Insulation Piercing Connector: One of the most important components of the LV-ABC system

Insulation Piercing Connector: One of the most important components of the LV-ABC system is the Insulation Piercing Connector. It is by far the most critical component, and the design of a bad design or process is destined to be the weak link of the system. Insulation perforation technology has been developed for more than thirty years and is still evolving in some respects. It begins with a design in which both the run and tap conductors are stripped and subsequently insulated by using a thermoplastic rigid cover of IP23. It progresses to the connector that passes through the body and only needs to peel off the tap. The rigid cover gives way to the flexible material used for the cover, which does not break under cold weather (as shown in Figure 8).

Microgrids with DER are becoming an inevitable part of existing distribution systems. The system is a three-phase AC system with no major changes in hardware compared to conventional systems, with a distribution capacity of 20 to 30 kWp, serving 200-300 homes. In fact, the architecture uses some mechanism to avoid non-technical losses. The optimization program encourages renewable energy generation investors to focus on profitable grid-connected power systems tailored for large utility scales and smaller suburban implementations.
